Day 3

We are just getting back to Hope Lodge from day 3 of chemo and radiation. There are only 30 more radiations and 9 more chemos. He is still doing great - no major side effects. He is rather tired today. I think that we both could use a nap - me a short one and him a long one. Hooray! Tomorrow is Friday and we will be going home for the weekend. He really is glad about that. The staff are Vanderbilt are great, this place is not so bad, but "there's no place like home".

Day 2

We have day 2 down, and he's still doing great! We could not get in Hope Lodge until 3:00p.m., so we went to get gas at Sam's, ate lunch at Cracker Barrel, went to WalGreens for supplies, bought some books for him at Books a Million, and window shopped at Target and Dick's. We made it to HL at 3:00, checked in, took the tour, and after two trips of unloading, went to the room and napped for 2 hours. While he slept a little longer, I worked on his journal. Just got back from eating at Shoney's. (Yes, they are still in existence!) Whew!
I think that it is time to go to the room and go to bed. The day was rather long!
Thank you for all you party warriors who helped send us off with the "Kickoff to Chemo". It really boosted his spirits.

First Day Update

I just spoke with Amy.....and she said that Dad has almost finished all of his chemo for the day. Then he will head to radiation for about 30 minutes and then FINISHED for the day.

The Start of the Winding Road.

Well Dad went to Nashville today for the start of his treatments. He had appointments starting at 8:30 today. He had to have blood work to make sure everything was right to begin. I talked to Amy around lunch, and she said that Dad had just begun his chemotherapy. They say that it will be about 6 hours for that. Then he is scheduled for radiation to follow the chemo. Today is the start of the journey. SO lets hope that it starts out on the right foot. Amy said that his spirits were high and that he is doing great. SO until next time.........

The Start of the Journey

Hello to ALL! I have created this blog as a way for everyone to keep up with Dad's treatments and health updates. This is going to be a l0ng and hard road for everyone. So feel free to check on him everyday, leave him post, send encouraging words, but most of all pray that the he will have the strength to fight until he doesn't have a reason to fight anymore-when he is CURED!!!!!
